The Straw and the Camel

The old adage of, “if you want something done, ask a busy person to do it,” has to ring true for creatives.

Constantly feeling behind and overwhelmed is not a feeling that is confined to the arts though.

Everybody feels that way.

And, to be honest, not everyone is capable of carrying the same weight.

That’s just life.

You have to be able to listen to yourself and weigh your own needs.

Not as an excuse to get out of work, but instead as a base need, in order to be truly productive.

Idle hands may lead to the devils work, but being over worked leads to an empty yoke.

Find the middle.

Say no.

It’s okay to have priorities.

Be careful not to give time and effort into areas that don’t give it back.

If a constant drip can wear away a stone, what chance do you think you have?

Know your own ambitions, and understand your own lines.

You have to be able to trust yourself to do what is needed.

If not, how can you ever expect anyone else to put faith in your work?

The inferno must first begin as a spark within yourself.
