The Good Hurt

It isn’t a secret that beauty is born of pain.

If you want abs, you need to put the work in… on the road and in the kitchen.

If you want money, you need to put in the work.

If you want family or meaningful relationships, you have to be able to give them the time that they require.

Life is like a garden. If you don’t water and provide nutrients to the items you want to grow, they will die.

Weeds grow through negligence and neglect.

Gardens do not.

Many writers run into blocks. Creative deserts that stifle their drive and starve their process.

It isn’t unique to you if you are experiencing it now.

When trauma strikes or heartbreak thrives, journals become filled.

I’m not a life coach. Far from it; I am a cautionary tale.

I am a writer.

And for me the key is to constantly maintain a discomfort. Repetition and habit in daily pages that provide a tone for my writing abs.

It is uncomfortable.

It hurts.

But when life gets in the way, and throws up a wall of pain, it is the repetition that gets me through.

So that the event itself does not derail me, it guides me.

The breadth of your work will not be decided by what you get done in the sunshine.

Bring the pain.

Write in the rain.
