Smarter…Then Harder

Smarter…then Harder
In the middle of a long stretch, right around the time people’s tempers flare and their wits end, I often hear the phrase, “work smarter, not harder.”
It isn’t helpful.
It isn’t smart.
It isn’t that the person saying it is dumb, that’s not it at all.
It’s never a smart move to assume ignorance with a counterpart.  Even when you know they are wrong.
I’m told the most dangerous part of any journey is the part just before you make it to your destination. You let your guard down. You can see the finish line.  You can smell the warm cookies and feel the pillow. That’s when the rug gets pulled out from under you.
That’s the trouble with anything. No matter what you do, you’re never done…until you’re finished.
It isn’t about being the smartest. And you don’t measure effort by who is covered in the most grease.
If you have a 900lb gorilla on your back. Go find a scorpion to help you cross a river. If you are being helped across a river by a scorpion. Hold your breath.
We’re all in the business of holding out for a midnight miracle. The stink of it is, you don’t want to be asleep and have it pass you by.
Work smart. Work hard. Get it Done!
