Posing for the Picture

We’ve all heard the phrase dress for the “job you want.”

Along with the adage, “fake it ’til you make it.’

But what about the people who are just…fake?

If you’ve sunk your teeth into the creative field.

Skipped right past dipping your toe in, and leapt with both feet straight into the deep end…then you know how hard it is to be seen and to be taken seriously.

Every day. Every single day. More and more content is released than the previous day.

And that’s more and more muck that you need to wade through in order to rise above.

You have to push past the posers.

Through the people that just dress for the part.

That pose for the photos, to make sure to be seen.

But don’t have any content to back it up.

They pretend to make.

They pretend to believe.

That’s the rub.

What if, instead of talking about that one thing you’ve been working on for years and years and years but what to be perfect.

…You just did the work and got it done.

Stop posing.

Stop posturing.

Stop dressing the part.

Do the work.

Be real.

It’s way more authentic.

And it holds up under a magnifying glass.

Talk is cheap.

Trench up.
