Marginal Failure

Have you ever found shirts or pants that are marked the same size, but are clearly inches off?

Or ordered shoes online that are labeled in your size but are, in fact, made to fit someone half that size?

That inconsistency is a failure in margins.

A ruler is not there for interpretation. It is there for measurement.

The distance between the lines doesn’t change.

That frustration you feel about someone else not following basic instructions is a good benchmark for your own craft.

Learn and understand the rules.

Don’t wing it.

That reliability and appreciation for the fundamentals doesn’t constrain your creativity, it guides it.

Don’t try to improv the margins of the ruler.

All you’ll do is make something that doesn’t fit and won’t be appreciated.

And who sets off to go do that?
