Guardian of the Dead(line)

One of the most frustrating parts of any job, is working with others who don’t get their work done.Whether you are on your first group project in grade school, or you are a working professional, the frustration never goes away. It is never fun to do someone else’s homework. Especially when you have to pay for it, either in sweat or in cash. You can only control, what you can control. As a creative, you have to be vigilant. Artists, as a whole, do not have a great reputation for getting work done on time. “It takes what it takes.”

While that is a good sentiment, it isn’t good business.  And, like it or not, art is work. If you want people to pay attention to what you’re doing… then start acting like you can handle the workload and you belong to be here. Money is great. Sure. It also comes and goes. There are people who have money that would love to be able to devote time to creating.  It’s on their bucket list. You, the creative, have the opportunity to live out someone else’s dream.  The grass is always greener.  It works both ways.  Everybody wants what they don’t have, and nobody understands what goes into something unless they are the one doing it.

Dreams aren’t always picnics. In fact, I don’t think I myself have ever had a dream that was.
The whole idea is… don’t take your opportunity for granted. There’s always somebody else who wants what you have, and if you don’t take the most of your opportunity when it’s given to you, well, there’s always that chance that the person coming after you will not only meet their deadlines, but they might also be more talented than you are.
When opportunity knocks, it is but with a feather.
