An Indifference Toward Martyrs and the War for Recognition

When you pick your visionary battle…
Do you survey the landscape first for your hill to die on?

Does it have a good view for you, or are you looking for a place for your corps to be seen?

I only ask, because we’ve all got blinders on.
All of us.

If we are out there hoping that some last gesture of effort will martyr ourselves and it will all have been worth it…leave the hope in the darkness.

Martyrdom doesn’t automatically make you a saint.
In the creative world, it just makes you a body for others to step around while we firmly trudge through tunnel vision.

Have your dignity.
Draw your lines in the sand.
It’s good to know where your margins are.
But also, know which side of the line you are currently standing on.

Having righteous indignation doesn’t right the wrong that was done to you.
It just distracts you from getting your work done.

We all bring something to the table.
There’s room between being a door mat and being a door stop.
Having a voice of any kind is a better place to build from than taking yourself out of the fight.

Find a way to be heard, without digging your own grave.
