A Required Taste

You know the saying, right?

Where there’s a will…

…there’s usually a dead body…

That’s not the phrase you were thinking of?

Well, it should be.

Because the casualties of art are profound and haunting.

Delivering on art is never a failure.  Not.  Ever.

Not completing art is the crime.

That’s the stuff that leaves the lingering bad taste.

The guilt.

It is the nature of the unfinished.

Whatever you are working on, get it done.

Get a draft out.

Find a way to see it through.

After that, you can deconstruct it, manipulate it and build from it.

But only in a constructive manner.

If you can’t teach yourself, how can you expect anyone else to learn from you… in any facet other than from your mistakes.

Don’t let your lack of completions define you.

Put your blinders on.

If you’re worried about doing it for anyone other than yourself, you’re going to go mad, and not in that creative genius sort of way.

Trench in.

See you in the foxhole.
