It’s there.
We may not want to see it.
We may be ambivalent towards it.
But we are, all of us, toeing that line.
Obscurity isn’t a fate worse than death.
It means there’s hope.
There is no hope through death.
If you are obscure, it means that you haven’t been discovered by the masses yet.
It doesn’t mean that you aren’t good enough.
It doesn’t mean that you should stop trying.
You have to look for quality.
It doesn’t stare back at you at every corner to see if you’re still following.
Most people don’t care.
…about anything.
They pretend to.
They talk a good game.
But at the end of the day, they just want to complain that no one appreciates them.
Blissfully unaware that their actions have undone their words.
That’s how oblivion works.
It takes a willing participant to turn a blind eye.
Growing up we used to hear the phrase “knowledge is power”. *(latin: scientia potentia est), attributed to Sir Francis Bacon.
Now, we see that knowledge is inconvenient, and truth is open to interpretation.
If you want people to take you seriously.
Not everything can be a joke.
Keep your eyes keenly open.
And stand up for what is right.
One of my favorite quotes is from Benjamin Franklin,
“If you would not be forgotten, as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write things worth reading, or do things worth writing.”
It’s not that complicated.
