The Asterisk Effect

In sports, if you’re found to have used performance enhancing drugs, or steroids, your achievements are null and void.

Then you’re banned from further competition.

If it’s found out after the accolades and laurels, they are stripped from you and your name has an *asterisk placed next to it in the record books.

It’s cheating.

Just in sports.

But really, given the opportunity in the civilian and private sectors, who wouldn’t take a little something to give them the edge?

I submit to you, that Artificial Intelligence is that little something.

That enhancement to your ability, that nobody needs to know you’re using…

That extra that can enable you to ship limitless product and claim it as your own.

Put an *asterisk next to all of those boxes.

Own it.

Wear the lie.

Who’s putting in the work.

If you’re using AI, say it.

If your content isn’t enough with out it, put the work in to make yourself better.

It’s pulling and culling content from other people who got the job done.

Either contribute to the work, or stop pretending to be the source of it.

You don’t have to be a dick about it.

If you’re a hobbyist, don’t act like an expert.

If you’re collaborating, contribute to your teammate’s efforts when it’s their turn to have their name listed first.

If you’re a creative, don’t be a diva.

Show up.

Represent your craft.

Give the credit to whomever did the work…even if your work was done for *you.
