Today, this day, there are probably more projects being worked on than there were yesterday. And yesterday there were more than the day before that.
That’s a lot to wade through.
It’s hard to be seen.
I think people are watching more content now, but they aren’t paying more attention.
It’s background noise.
Find your screen.
Find a way to be seen and hang on.
Build a foundation.
Yes. Some people are able to skip to the top, and get those huges festivals to shine a light on them and their work.
But countless others don’t get there, they hold out for the windfall rather than to get their work seen, build up titles, and continue filmmaking.
The key is to keep making.
It’s not filmmade.
Keep at it.
It’s a predatory business. It’s easy to be taken advantage of.
Watch out for vampires of innovation.
Those who prey not only on your talents, but on your good will.
You get to create for a living.
Don’t let them force you into a constant state of being jaded.
There will always be fools.
Taht being said, if you find that you truly are the smartest person in the room…find a different room…immediately.
Others who don’t know how much time it takes to make something from scratch will think you are dragging your feet.
They will start to panic.
They will blame you for delays.
Don’t let them blame you for not making their dreams come true.
Worse yet, if you are the one pointing fingers and avoiding responsibility…don’t let the shells of your dreams become someone else’s nightmare.
Bear the burden of your own dream.
Be held to account for your own innovations.
