The Almost’s and the Not Quite’s

How’s that fire of creative passion burning?

Are you ideas stalked?

Have you stoked the home fire?

The end of the year will be here before we know it, and along with it, a new round of annual goals.

But…how did you do this year?

And, what can we all do in order to improve on those stats next year?

The foundation of a building is rarely the part that gets attention.

It’s always, how tall it is, or how glamorous the architecture looks, or how bright the lights are.

But, if that foundation isn’t sound, the building isn’t going to be around long.

Don’t worry if you’re not as flashy as those around you.

If your not as noticed right now.

Or if you don’t own the room as soon as you walk into it.

Be persistent.

Build that foundation.

Sure, getting passed over sucks.

Getting to the final round and not getting the job, or not even being considered in the first place isn’t a good feeling.

Let it stoke your fire.

Let it drive your ambition.

But…

You don’t need to prove anything to anyone.  Don’t hold it as a grudge, hold it as a goal to improve on.  That’s your benchmark.

If you know you’re good enough to play in the sandbox, then GO PLAY IN THE SANDBOX, just don’t expect it to be easy and for everything to fall into place when you get there.

No matter what, you have to grind.

There are a million other people out there that want your job, and the odds are…at least some of them might be better at it than you.

Don’t let the water get stagnant under your feet.

Keep building.

Make sure you get that foundation right.
